NEW at Cattail Corner Organic chicken feed and unusual chicks!
As I serched for a supplier of organic chicken feed for my small flock of laying hens, I was met with
scepticism and an attitude that organics was basically unneccessary.. I found it frusterating that the typical feed
store was not at all interested in this way of life. So my husband and I decided that we should make available a line
of GREAT organic chicken feed. We now carry Nares Grown Organics. We have in stock Organic Chick Starter
19% protein, Organic 16% Chick Grower, 18% Organic Layer (phase 1), and Organic Layer (phase 2). We
will continue to add on lines for the small family flock. We now carry items such as feeders and waterers. We
have also expanded into the unusual chick business. I was having a hard time finding the chickens I was interested in
for my flock. Something other than the usual production reds or leghorns. I was serching for a BUff Orpington,
and the manager of a local feed store gave me a different baby chick and said "this one will be about the same color",
HMMMMM... (I think it turned out to be an ISO Brown or something). So my serch began, and so did
my sales of baby chicks. From Marans, to Welsummers, Orpingtons, Brahmas, Guinea Fowl and more!! In
the near future I will also be having available 18-20 week old laying hens. The benefit of this is that you don't have
to worry about brooding the babies, they will be ready to settle in and start laying!! The downfall is the fun of having
the babies around and watching them change almost daily!! (And a bonus they are organic!!) So
check back often to see what new and exciting finds we will have in the near future!!
